General
This web site is simply made up of straight forward documents presenting information to any and every internet user. Some of the pages do some clever stuff with JavaScript to format that information (such as the Member’s Bikes page where the pictures are all laid out in an easy to view grid). In short the web site will present you the same information regardless of who you are, where you are and/or how often you have been to the site.
Cookies
That all said, we do use Google Analytics to try to analyse the web site (to see which pages are getting the most visits, where new visitors go compared to visitors who have been before, how long people are looking at pages, etc) and we can use this information to help us to improve the site. To do this Google Analytics needs to create some cookies on your computer so that it can know if you have been to the web site before or not. Due to the recent legislation changes implied by the EU, all sites that make use of cookies must now ask your permission and must tell you what those cookies are used for. So here you go, if you wish to investigate the cookies for this web site you will see there are four of them (they may not all exists, none of them will exist until you give us permission to create them):
| Cookie | Purpose |
|---|---|
| googleAnalyticsOptIn | Remembers that you have already given us permission to store cookies for this site |
| __utma | Records how many times you visited the site |
| __utmb & __utmc | Used to calculate how long you were on each page (b is when you arrived, c is when you left) |
| __utmz | Records what web site sent you to our site (e.g. the National club site or perhaps a google search) |
Hopefully, now that you are armed with all the information about these cookies, you will see that we are not storing any data about you personally and we are certainly not passing any information on to 3rd parties to use for marketing or anything like that.
