East Anglia Section VCR Pizza & BBQ Social

A better day was forecast for the second VCR Pizza Day Special organised
by Hugh & Heather and held at their home in Kenton, Suffolk.
I decided to
go in the car and picked up my colleague Paul Round on the way.
There was
a mixture of bikes and cars at the event and as it turned out after a few
spots of rain the weather cleared and gave a warm windy day. In all some
twenty people and one dog attended this event.
On arrival Hugh and
Heather gave us a cup of tea and we stood around chatting until more members
arrived.
Outside Hugh had erected the club’s large gazeebo and his pizza
oven had been lit some time before and was hot and ready for cooking the
pizzas.
A nearby table was covered in bowls of a variety of toppings
Heather had prepared and she had also made several balls of dough ready for
people to knead it out into a round base on to which the toppings are added.
When three or four pizzas were ready for cooking I helped Hugh load them
into the oven where they were left for around 5 minutes or so until the base
was hard and cooked.
This procedure went on until everyone’s pizza was
cooked. And jolly good they were too!
As I was loading and
retrieving the pizzas I thought of all the hard work Heather and Hugh had
put in preparing for this VCR Pizza Special and our thanks go to Hugh and
Heather was organising the second of these VCR Pizza Specials.I urge all VCR
members to continue to support Hugh in his organising of the VCR Section of
the East Anglia Section.

Note from Dik: I would like to echo Mike’s gratitude to Hugh and
Heather for making us feel so welcome and organising such a successful
event. I would also thank Mike for his great report and for the lovely
photographs he took on the day. I took some myself but they are no where
near as good so I have just tacked them to the bottom of the report only
because some of them include Mike who doesn’t otherwise appear in reports
like this because he is usually behind the camera! Don’t forget you
