Flog it at Fornham Report
Sunday
18th March 2012
Report by Dik Langan
We
had a good turn out of sellers for the Flog It At Fornham event this
year, it was just a shame that it
was not matched by the number of potential buyers, but spirits were
high and as always when we get together as a group, there was plenty
of chatter and interest in the bikes that attended, especially the 2 day old
K1600GT.
Tim and Dorothy excelled with their prepared sandwiches, sausage rolls,
scotch eggs, fruit, crisps, biscuits, coffee, tea and squash and
the chosen charity (Aspire – a very deserving cause
we will be supprting again in the future) will be
most grateful for the donations made by those partaking of the
food.
The weather was always threatening some rain but did
not amount to much more than a "sprinkle" during the event, but with
the lack of "punters" we all decided that we were not going to sell
more than we already had and so finished a little early.
It would be most interesting to hear from the people who usually attend this event but did not attend this year to find out the main reason why they decided not to. We think the following were possible reasons but we may post a poll on the forum to discuss if/how we could improve this event to attract a better attendance next year:
- Not have it clash with Mothering Sunday
- Not have it clash with the first F1 race
- Bring back the Auction format
- It’s just not everyone’s cup of tea
Anyway, here are a few more pictures from the event so you can see what sort of items you missed out on:
