East Anglia Section AGM
Sunday 13th October 2012
A brief report by Dik Langan
As usual I start the report with a quick mention for the weather, mainly because I truely believe it has as much of an influence on the attendance to this event as any amount of pre-AGM blurb I put on the web site. It was actually a slightly foggy start but even as early as 8am showing great signs of clearing to be a lovely, if what nippy day. Sure enough this is how it turned out.
By the time I arrived (and I had left myself too much travel time so took a scenic route to kill some time, even then arriving at 9:45) there were already four members there which was very promising.
We soon set about arranging the tables and chairs and the all-important urn for tea and coffee. Tim, Dorothy and Mark brought along biscuits which ar always appreciated.
As hoped there was a cracking turn out and it was great to meet up with the regulars as well as welcome along some of the new faces – one chap being so keep he was attending as a non-member and signed up on the spot!
The minutes of the AGM will pretty much tell the tale of the meeting itself which started on time and had no great surprises, although the one notable event was the voting where we gained Bob Ibbetson as the new Social Secretary, Peter Dutton as a general committee member and welcomed back Mike Davies as another general committee member.
The meeting close at 12:25 with many of us taking the ususal post-AGM stroll down to the Wool Pack (after tidying up the hall of course).
I just want to thank again Tim and Dorothy, Tim has done a sterling effort as Social Secretary this year and Dorothy has been his very able assistant who also thinks of everything (such as bickies for the AGM).
Finally just a note to say that I will try to add some pictures that I took on the day but if I don’t then I hope you will forgive what is otherwise probably quite a bland report.
