Duxford Ride-In for Remembrance Sunday

Sunday 10th November

09:00am Starbucks @ BP Services, A14 west-bound, Newmarket

(CB8 0XG)

Meet up and ride in to this great day.

Duxford Imperial War Museum opens its gates every year to mark Remembrance Sunday and this has become a fantastic day, particularly for bikers as they are ushered in to their own parking area (bypassing the queue of cars - as long as you are happy to filter)

Entry to Duxford is free and they mark the day in several ways:

- Wreath laying at the remembrance wall

- The whole site observing the minute's silence

- Service in the Concorde hanger

- lots of "living exhibits" with museum and enthusiast volunteers demonstrating weaponry, radio equipment etc

All the usual exhibitions are open and (if the weather is fair) then the place does get busy but it really is a great day.

SO HERE'S THE PLAN:

09:00 meet up at the Starbucks at the BP services on the A14 west-bound, Newmarket CB8 0XG

09:30 Set off for Duxford, I will filter through the traffic but I will not be going fast

10:00 Arrive at Duxford, park up and enjoy the day (usually heading straight for the Remembrance wall service at the far end of the site)

Leave when you are ready, bike parking is left up to the riders to pick their spot amongst all the other bikes and leave room to extract your bike but I have never had a problem yet (and I have been for the last 5 years - I have still not seen all the exhibits).
