We have been invited to join The BMW Club Oirchot & Omstreken
for what could be their last Easter Rally.
Anyone who has been will tell you there is not a more friendly
bunch nor a rally with a more welcoming atmosphere and if this is
truely to be their last then I suspect they will be going out with a
bang!
Below is a copy of their invite to our section. Other sections
have been invited too and so you may be able to coordinate on the
forum and meet up with folks at your channel crossing. Please read fully if you intend to go:
BMW Motor Weekend on 18 – 21 April 2014
Already since 1979 (!) every year BMW Club Oirschot & Omstreken
has been organizing her International BMW Motor Weekend. The coming
Easter Weekend (Friday 18 April – Monday 21 April) we are going to
do this for the 35
th, however unfortunately as it looks also for the
last, time. This gives all of our faithfull loyal visitors the
opportunity to enjoy just once again this special event together
with us and new participants will surely regret that they did not
join us already in earlier years. As has become usual in recent
years the weekend starts on Friday from 15.00 h and lasts till 11.00
h on Easter Monday.
To emphasize the jubilee character of this
year’s event, we have composed a full program with (preliminary) the
following items:
- Starting on Friday at 15.00 h. reception and
subscription, with tea / coffee / cakes.
- Program booklet and remembrance tile for all participants.
- Photo puzzle / questionary
- On Friday evening live-music.
- The traditional a guided walk through the neighbouring nature reserve (most likely
on Saturday morning).
- Saturday afternoon free program (touristic information available), but for those interested a joint
visit to the local museum “De bewogen jaren” (’40 – ’45)
[ed: "The War Years"]
- On Saturday evening a music night (DJ)
- On Sunday a nice ride-out
of about 130 km. Route description available for several GPS
versions.
- On Sunday evening prize giving with unique, handmade,
prizes. And after that a cozy campfire and again live-music.
- And in between all that, a few surprises!
And furthermore:
- Three wholesome dinners and three continental breakfasts
- Bunkhouse accommodation available (this must be booked in advance,
and please don’t forget sheets and / or sleeping bag), but there is
also a quiet camping ground.
- Free coffee and tea the whole
weekend over.
- Loads of enjoyment can be had by all with
motorbike talk and other chats.
The cost for all this is as follows (just as last year):
When using the bunkhouse: Eur. 93,--
per person
When staying at the campsite: Eur. 78,-- per person
So this is including 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts.
To ease the
organization of the weekend for us, we would be pleased if a planned
participation to our weekend is announced in advance (without
engagement).
If one wants to be sure of a bunkhouse reservation a
pre-announcement is even more advisable, because of the limited
places. By E-mail:

accomodation: Farmcamp “De Roerdomp” Ontginningsweg 10 5091 KN

To avoid any misunderstandings and disappointments:
Our weekend is only accessible with a BMW motorbike
(type and age,
also of the rider, doesn’t matter).
We hope to see you in the
south of the Netherlands during the Easter weekend!
The headlines are:
- You MUST be riding a BMW motorbike
- Full itinerary planned
- Don't forget your sleeping bag if you are booked in the bunk
house
******
The ride from the Hook of Holland will take about 2 hours and
there is plenty of time to make a visit to somewhere on the way to the
rally so as not to get there too early (any suggestions welcome).
This link will take you to a google map of the location:

(Oirschot is just on the A58 out of Eindhoven and the camp site is 13km south west of Oirschot near some places with very apt names: Oostebeers, Middelbeers and Westelbeers)
If you are going along and would like to chat about it with other
club members why not create a forum topic then if you let me know I
will put a link to it from this page!
